First off, can you build it? Yes, you can! This is a seriously heavyweight thing made from refractory concrete and brick but because it arrives in 24 pieces, it is simple enough to assemble. Two people will make short work, three even shorter. You get full instructions along with the special exterior adhesive to fix it all together. Here’s a diagram.
Because refrectory concrete, also called heat-resistant concrete, has a lot of alumina cement or calcium aluminate in it, it resists the heat of the BBQ really well. It won’t crack or melt.
The full weight of 880kg sits on board the two bottom pieces, 1 and 2. You’ll need a solid, strong, flat surface to build it on. Ideally concrete or stone, the strongest of decks, not gravel on top of soil and certainly not directly on the bare earth.
