There’s something extra-special about wood, the natural material that has kept human beings warm, dry and safe for hundreds of thousands of years, as well as taking us on voyages aboard great wooden ships, sailing across mysterious seas into the far-flung unknown.
We’ve found a load of superb wood garden bench designs for you, some made from gorgeous mahogany, some from eucalyptus wood and others from incredibly strong acacia wood. Here are some photos.
3 park-look real wood garden bench designs you’ll adore
First, we have three classic park bench designs to showcase. The Kingston 120cm Bench in Mahogany, below, is an excellent two seater garden bench in a classic park-style design, made from strong mahogany hardwood for a long life. The finish slowly weathers in the open air to give you that classic silvery grey patina, which you can allow to develop or re-finish to bring back the golden honey glow. It’s simple to assemble and gives you a lovely place to sit for years to come. There’s also a 150cm long version to seat three.
The Mayfield 120cm Bench FSC Acacia Wood Teak Look, below, comes with a pretty curved detail on the back and a subtle, calm colour that graces every style of garden. Also available in a three seater version, this, the Kingsbury style bench and the Kingston collection make it easy to create a smart matching look outdoors. Like all the wooden garden furniture we sell it’s made using FSC approved timber.
The FSC or Forestry Stewardship Council is a not-for-profit organisation whose support helps protect the world’s forests against the ravages of deforestation, climate change, and biodiversity problems. They promote the ‘environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable’ management of forests and their logo appears on millions of wood products across the globe. Basically if it’s FSC certified, it has been responsibly sourced without causing harm to forests.
As you can see below, the Kingsbury’s curved backrest is a lovely feature, and this design is also available in two sizes, a two seater and three seater. Here’s the 150cm version, the Kingsbury 150cm Bench in Mahogany. The attractive warm red finish complements greenery and flowers really well, just one reason why this rugged design and the other two styles above are popular for parks, gardens and public areas as well as private spaces. The curved backrest gives it a nice visual touch and the wide seat, which is a feature of all three designs, makes it unusually comfortable. There’s no reason why you can’t use them indoors too, ideal for a conservatory.
As you can see they’re all really easy to accessorise with colourful or subtle throws and scatter cushions. Weave a string of tiny white LED fairy lights around the top of the backrest if you like.
The Florenity range of wood garden benches
The popular Florenity range also offers some beautiful wooden garden bench designs, this time in a choice of subtle heritage shades. What do you think of these, with their uber-modern styling and thick comfy cushion pads? The Florenity Grigio 2 Seater Bench in Grey and Florenity Verdi 3 Seater Bench with Pad are both long-term best sellers.
PS. Apologies in advance… the wee dog isn’t for sale!
Florenity even does a folding bench, such a clever idea as well as a good-looker.
Too cool for school – A wooden garden bench with pop up table
Last but not least there’s the Richmond from Pacific Lifestyle, a wooden bench with its own clever pop-up table in the centre. Such a cool idea, available in a cool grey or light teak finish and both made from tough, sustainable FSC acacia wood.
So, park life awaits you. Which design will you choose? Whichever you go for you can rely on the quality, build and styling for a good, long life.
