Whether its in a shady nook or out in the blazing sun, a bench enriches life. This time we’re talking about a lovely fairyland-inspired garden bench design our customers are flocking to buy. And we’ve come up with some more inspiring yet simple ideas to make a garden more magical.
Add magic with a cast iron fairy garden bench
There’s magic in every garden. It’s magical just being outdoors, an antidote to breathing the same old air time and time again indoors through the winter and, these days, in extreme hot weather as well. Plants themselves are magical when you think about it.
Fresh air itself does wonders for our physical and mental wellbeing. Put a photo or painting of a landscape on the wall and hospital patients get better faster. A window with a view of greenery does an even better job. And this magical seat seals the deal for outdoor relaxation with its intricate cast iron fairy, toadstool, flower and tree motifs.
As well as a solid surface, you can stand it on gravel or grass. You’ll want to put something flat under each leg so they don’t sink in. Small circular or square stepping stones are ideal, put in at ground level. It’s easy to do. Cut the right-shaped hole out of the lawn turf or bury them in the gravel.
The decorative back is cast iron and the frame is tough steel, the ideal combination of strength and weight. It’s surprisingly light. It stays out all year in all weathers, very practical, and the durable powder coat paint finish is as tough as old boots, too. We think the detail is fantastic so intricate. Every time we look at it we see something different.
More ideas to add fairytale magic to a garden
It’s hard to beat fairy lights for a simple instant impact. Pure white or cream LED garden lights make a stunning display. For extra drama, rather than stringing them up try winding them around a shrub or small tree, in exactly the same way you’d decorate a Christmas tree. Or use them to mark out the area you lounge and eat, a quick way to create a zone’.
Did you know Xmas tinsel lasts for years outdoors? The matt whites, creams and transparent tinsels are full of fairytale fun. Keep it subtle by winding the tinsel into an evergreen, or up some ivy, or in bush, so you get glimmers of it rather than a crazy festive effect. It might fade in the sun, it depends on the tinsel, but the rain won’t harm it – tinsel should stay looking good for at least a year outdoors. Baubles are great too. The plastic ones fade fast in the sun but in shady places they look good for years. Maybe hang a group of three in the same non-festive colour. You can’t go far wrong with plain matt black, white or cream.
Resin farm animals are magical. You can get life-size cows, sheep, pigs and loads more online, delivered to your door, designed for farm shops, market stalls and so on. Some of them come in plain white, others have realistic finishes. Paint and decorate it using ordinary house paint or acrylics. Glue things on if you like.
Mushroom stools come in anything from cartoony red and white spotted toadstools to subtle, more realistic versions to suit a grown-up fantasy garden. Also use them as stands for potted plants or as occasional tables and footstools. Do a Google search to find a wonderland of on-trend fungus-inspired garden furniture made from resin, pottery, recycled and reclaimed wood, cast concrete and stone. If you love the design but hate the colour, paint your mushroom stools with exterior paint: black, dark grey, scarlet, aubergine, teal… magic!
Solar lighting like this is easy to use, economical and very beautiful, adding more magic touches to the garden.
Secret, private spaces are magical. If there’s a place in your garden like that, make the most of it. Turn it into a hideaway where comfort meets style and there’s magic in the air day and night. Let your imagination run free and give it a go. Then relax and enjoy your gorgeous space full of fairytale magic.
