Modern homes don’t have fireplaces. Older homes often do, unless they’ve been blocked up. If you’re pining for the warm welcome provided by a real fire, think about buying yourself one of our bioethanol heaters, a stylish fireplace that doesn’t need coal or wood. They’re perfect for indoors, adding a cosy ambience to your home. They look fantastic. And they also come with decent eco-credentials. Here are some ideas for you.
The TecnoAir Osaka Freestanding Bioethanol Eco Fireplace
The smooth curves and clean lines of the Osaka, above, make it an unusual choice. Like all bioethanol fires you can put it anywhere you like, a free-standing treat to warm up any room in the house. It gives off an impressive 3kW of heat, warm enough to cosy-up an entire room with ease. The sleek modern design is beautiful to look at and the super-stable square base keeps things safe.
Stand it in the middle of the room, against a wall, anywhere you like. The stainless steel body is tough and hard-wearing, with a smart black finish that goes with any colour of decor. But it’s about more than the warmth, it also makes a brilliant mood-light, flickering and romantic. Perfect for dinner parties and date nights, impressively dramatic and full of contemporary style.
There’s a door fitted with protective glass, which means there isn’t any naked flame to worry about. The flames are safely held inside the fireplace’s body. The burner inside is both adjustable and removable, releasing the fuel in a steady, controlled way, and it takes 2L of fuel at a time to give you a good long burn.
It’s also a great size, large and impressive, 120cm high, 76cm wide and 43.4cm deep. And it weighs in at a sturdy, solid 35kg, not something you can easily knock over.
The TecnoAir Tokyo Freestanding Bioethanol Eco Fireplace
The TecnoAir Tokyo Freestanding Bioethanol Eco Fireplace is another of the most popular bioethanol heaters we sell. Made by the same quality manufacturer, it comes with an entirely different design, majoring on sleek, sharp lines and a tall, slim, tapered profile. Like the Osaka it performs brilliantly and holds the flames safely inside, protected behind a glass door. Vents at the top and bottom maximise the efficiency, keeping things nice and hot.
It’s another big, bold indoor bioethanol fire with its 2L fuel capacity, 3kW heat, a removable burner that adjusts, and dimensions of 123cm high, 45.6cm wide and 40cm deep. It weighs 32kg, good and heavy and solid, a sign of a great quality item.
The TecnoAir Boston Bioethanol Eco Table Fireplace
Dialling the size down a bit, this gorgeous cut gemstone-shaped design sits on top of a table, cabinet or sideboard to give you a delightfully warm atmosphere. Turn the lights off and it comes into its own, packed with drama as well as practical.
It’s made from strong stainless steel and tough glass with a black painted base and takes just under half a litre of fuel at a time, 0.4L. The clever closing cover extinguishes the flame quickly and safely. This one gives off 1.2kW of heat and it’s the perfect size at 18cm high, 59.8cm wide and 30.4cm deep. At 4.5kg it’s sturdy, solid and safe. You’d struggle to knock it over.
The TecnoAir Lione Bioethanol Eco Lantern
Want a bioethanol lantern rather than a fireplace? No worries! The simple, elegant TecnoAir Lione Bioethanol Eco Lantern comes with a smooth stainless steel and glass design featuring a circular base and a beautiful cube glass cover. The base is painted black steel and the glass panels curve at the bottom to accommodate the stand and give you an unusual look full of style and class.
This one takes 0.3L of fuel and radiates a cosy 0.5kW of heat into the room, perfect for taking the chill off in an unusually attractive way. The simple closing cover kills the flame instantly. And the light it emits is beautiful, the same wonderful natural flames as the other models we’ve featured. The same clever removable burner with fibre completes the picture and she measures 23.4cm high, 28.4cm wide and 28.4cm deep.
About bioethanol fuel
All these fireplaces and heaters run on efficient, clean bioethanol fuel. It is basically a type of alcohol made by fermenting sugars and starches from crops like wheat, maize, corn and sugar beet. The starches and sugars are broken down using acids or enzymes, then fermented to generate ethanol and CO2. Because the CO2 has come from a carbon-neutral source the fuel is cleaner and more eco-friendly than fossil fuels. It’s only gives off steam, heat and carbon dioxide when burned, and it’s biodegradable.
