Which Cook King product do you need?

Fire basket? Fire pit? Fire bowl? Maybe a smokehouse? How do you choose?

Fire pits can be either built in or mobile. The Cook King versions we sell are all mobile. Fire bowls are almost always mobile as well. You can easily move them round the garden when they’re cool, ideally two people since they’re made from heavy metal.

As far as this buyers guide to Cook King firebowls and stoves goes, they’re much the same thing. A fire basket is a fire bowl designed in a basket style, where the flames show through the slats like the Cook King Verona below. And a smokehouse is all about smoking food rather than enjoying the flickering flames.

Basically, choose the look you love. Whether it’s a fire pit, fire bowl, fire basket or garden stove from Cook King, it’ll do a fine job of adding drama and excitement to your garden. Your product will burn well, perform perfectly, and look good for years.

Cook King firebowls and stoves – Think about space and size

One of the most important things in our buyers guide to Cook King firebowls and stoves is the size. We recommend careful measuring before deciding on what to buy. It’s especially important with a fire bowl, basket or pit because you need enough space for people to walk around it easily and safely without knocking into it, burning themselves, or damaging the garden furniture. Because they’re designed to get really hot, you’ll need at least three feet of clear space all the way round.

It also makes sense to grab the biggest version of all to heat and light a bigger garden, and buy a smaller and neater version if you have a little patio or garden. If the area gets too hot you’ll drive your guests away into the shadows. A tiny fire in a big space leaves everyone feeling chilly and uncomfortable.

Don’t forget to factor in the garden furniture. If you’re adding furniture to the area you’ll need to make sure it will all fit around the fire while leaving you enough room to stand up, sit down, eat, chat, and move around safely.

What is your surface like?

The flatter the surface, the more sturdy your fire pit or bowl will be. Plenty of us have lawns and patios that aren’t completely flat. If that’s you, pick a product with three legs. It’s like magic. While a four legged version will wobble, a three legged one will stand firmly and safely even when sitting on an uneven surface. We don’t understand the physics but it’s definitely a thing!

Consider your alfresco lifestyle

Will you be cooking outdoors all the time, often, every now and again, or never? Your choice of outdoor fire also depends on the kind of entertainment you’ll be enjoying in the garden.

Choose the design you love best
