This wonderful Espira Racing Sloop Farmhouse Copper Weathervane is a classic choice. And like all weathervanes it has a long and interesting history. Did you know weathervanes depicting gods were used on the villas of wealthy landowners in Greece and pre-Christian Rome? This one features a fabulous racing sloop complete with all the sails and delicate rigging. The boat is made from polished copper, brazed by hand. The NSEW letters are polished brass with a powder-coated black steel rotation rod. Both metals will gradually lose the bright shine to give you a lush patina. Eventually the copper will turn to verdigris, that classic green colour. If you prefer, slow the process using coats of clear spray varnish. You can use Hammerite to extend the life of the steel rotation rod. All Farmhouse weathervanes are supplied as standard with an Eave Bracket. This bracket projects 125mm (5”) with a 10cm square mounting plate.
