Isn't that good news when the outdoor lifestyle is taking over, enjoyed by millions? All over the nation we're barbecuing like maniacs, staying up late enjoying our gardens and patios, inviting friends, and treating the people we love to alfresco fun.
Our parasol bases are the perfect complement to the range of beautiful garden parasols we sell, all great quality and built to last. They come in a variety of weights, each perfect for the parasols we sell. They're made from concrete so they're good and sturdy, weighted perfectly for the amount of strain they're designed to take.
We also sell garden cantilever umbrellas, with their own range of heavy bases. They're bigger and heavier. But these, below, are best for the parasols we have in store.
Can you picture yourselves sheltering under a stunning parasol outdoors? Maybe with a cold drink or a hot snack? A book or a Kindle, a newspaper or your tablet? It's a great way to enjoy your garden more. Grab a parasol, grab a base, and you're off!
Parasol Bases FAQs — Keep Your Parasol Standing Strong
Good question! A parasol base is what keeps your parasol upright and steady — without it, your parasol could topple over at the slightest breeze. It’s the unsung hero of your outdoor setup.
The heavier, the better — but it depends on your parasol size.
- Small parasols (up to 2.5m): aim for at least 10-15 kg
- Larger parasols (3m+): look for 20-40 kg or more
There’s a few popular styles:
- Concrete or stone: Solid and super stable, but heavy to move
- Fillable plastic: Lightweight when empty, fill with water or sand for weight
- Metal: Stylish and durable, often powder-coated to resist rust
- Portable bases: Great if you want to move your parasol around
While it might work temporarily, it’s not recommended. Proper parasol bases are designed with stability and safety in mind — regular stones or bricks can be unstable or damage your parasol pole.
Most parasol bases have a central hole or clamp:
- Slide the parasol pole into the base’s socket
- Tighten screws or clamps to secure it firmly
- Double-check it’s stable before letting go!
Usually yes — if the pole diameters match. Some bases come with adjustable clamps or adapters to fit different sizes, which adds flexibility if you swap parasols.
