Where does the wind blow? Look up and see. The earliest recorded weathervane was found on the Tower of the Winds in Athens, built by the astronomer Andronicus in 48 BC. We carry the tradition on with this modern masterpiece made to a pretty Victorian design. The Espira Victorian Arrow Farmhouse Copper Weathervane is just one of the Farmhouse range of weathervanes. The decorative feature and spacer balls are bright polished copper, brazed by hand. It’ll quickly go darker and will eventually go that gorgeous verdigris green colour. If you prefer the copper shiny, add a few coats of a good exterior spray varnish to keep it that way. North South, East and West are made of polished brass with a powder-coated black steel rotation rod. Polished brass will also discolour in time, a perfectly natural process that leaves it looking beautifully aged. Add a coat of black Hammerite to extend the life of the steel rotation rod.
