Weathervanes have played a part in figuring out the coming weather for millennia, used to show the direction of the wind by people across the world, even on Viking ships. Very cool! This Espira Victorian Arrow Cottage Copper Weathervane is designed for cottages, bungalows, garages and sheds, one of an exciting collection. The bracket included projects 125mm (5”) with a 7.5cm square mounting plate for easy fitting to your roof. This elaborate Victorian Arrow Weathervane exudes period elegance. The spacer balls, pointed top and arrow feathers are made from polished copper, brazed together by hand. The NSEW letters are polished brass with a powder-coated black steel rotation rod. Both metals will gradually lose the bright shine to give you a lush patina. Eventually the copper will turn to verdigris, the classic green colour everyone loves. If you prefer, slow the process using several coats of clear spray varnish. You can use Hammerite to extend the life of the steel rotation rod.
